Younglife Leader
As a Young Life leader at Lee Scott Academy, I’ve had the opportunity to walk alongside high school students, investing in their lives through mentorship, consistent presence, and intentional relationship-building. This role has taught me the value of showing up faithfully, leading with humility, and creating spaces where students feel known, seen, and loved. I’ve grown in my ability to communicate clearly, plan outreach events, and collaborate with fellow leaders to create meaningful experiences that reflect the heart of Young Life. More than anything, this experience has deepened my understanding of servant leadership and the importance of meeting people right where they are.
From leading weekly club meetings and team meetings and building relationships with students, I dedicate around 20 hours each week to Young Life responsibilities. This includes managing the Lee Scott Young Life Instagram account to engage students and families, coordinating communication between our leadership team, the school board, and parents, and attending games, events, and lunches to support students in their day-to-day lives. I serve as a trusted guide and friend, ensuring that each student feels included and cared for. Through this role, I’ve developed strong organizational and communication skills, grown in my leadership, and found deep fulfillment in being part of a team that prioritizes consistency, joy, and authentic connection.

Over the past two summers, I’ve had the opportunity to serve at Young Life camps—one in Colorado and one in British Columbia, Canada—which have been some of the most formative experiences of my life. Working in guest services and on the ropes team at both taught me the value of hard work, adaptability, and stepping into challenges that felt intimidating at first. I was able to help coordinate events, work alongside diverse teams across the camp, and build connections with high schoolers and college students from all over the country. These experiences pushed me to grow in confidence, communication, and leadership, and gave me a deeper appreciation for the power of service and community.
